How can I help my older dog control her bladder?

Q. She is 14 years old, otherwise healthy, and has just recently (over the last 2 days) been leaking urine. Primarily when she sleeps. Not large amounts, and it's not like she's actually peeing. She lays down, and when she gets back up, there's a wet spot, and she'll trickle a little as she walks. I'm pretty sure that this is common for a 14 year old dog, my question is what I can do to stop it? Medication? A special food?

A. There are two things you can give her to help with bladder control.

1) Proin. A prescription you can get from your Vet. It usually works very well. More information at: http://www.prnpharmacal.com/products/proin-i.htm
P.S. My dog is large and therefore the Rx is more expensive. I now buy it at www.DrsFosterSmith.com. My vet faxes them the prescription. It is saving me a lot of $.

2) Leaks-no-More (an herbal remedy). Has helped my dog alot. Ran it by my Vet and he told me it is fine and I give it with the Proin since my dogs problem became worse. More info at: http://www.entirelypets.com/leaknomore3pk.html

My dog has pancreatic cancer, and the treatment is causing her problem with bladder control. Before I started treating her, she was leaking in her bed at night. Then it started happening when she walked around too. With the combo of Proin and LNM, she is almost completely leak-free. It is a wonderful thing!!!

If you have to use diapers, you can use human baby diapers. The dogie ones they sell in the store are VERY expensive. Human diapers work very well.

Good Luck

How can you tell if a dog is pregnant?/What are the signs?
Q. The dog in question is a Dalmation btw...

A. Often when a dog become pregnant they are not unlike humans in the way they sometimes become moody due to hormones. When my dog was pregnant she was much snappier & more territorial than usual. Also, further along they have obvious weight gain & their nipples become more prominent. More towards the end of the pregnancy you can actually put your hand on your dog's belly & feel the babies move, its pretty cool. If none of this helps, you can also take your dog to the vet & they will do an x-ray & an exam to let you know for sure. Have a great day!

Can you worm a dog when she is pregnant?
Q. The dog in question about worming that is pregnant is a beagle.

A. yes, actually now is a good time to prevent mobilization of the resting larvae in her body to the pups. Ask your vet for more advice.

What is the most controversial dog question you've seen and why?
Q. Also, what type of dog do you have?

A. I would say the top 3 most controversial subjects here are breeding questions (Because backyard breeders feel the need to ask questions here for some reason), Pit Bull questions (Usually regarding aggression and the great war on them being a dangerous breed or not), and designer dog breed questions (and the war on them being purposely bred or not).
I would say there are a lot of stupid questions as well (Sick dogs that aren't being vet checked, "teacup" dogs, and so on type questions) but it seems most everyone can agree on the answers for those.

Legit- Personally I have two Australian Shepherds.
