How bad is kennel cough? Should I go to an emergency vet tonight?
Q. My vet told me my dog had a bad cough from being intubated. He was put on vanectyl p for it but he's not better. I just got the idea from here that it could be kennel cough. My vet might have just assumed it was from the tube. Is kennel cough really bad? Can he wait until morning? Or should I go now?
A. You can't take a chance that its kennel cough. It could be, it could be more serious, it could be less serious. You should get a proper diagnosis.

coughing like he's choking and wretching as if he's trying to vomit but nothing comes out.
Sometimes kennel cough can go away on its own (wait and see is HIGHLY NOT recommended tho) sometimes it can cause issues if left untreated. And its extremely uncomfortable. They can give you something to make him more comfortable.
I'd at least call the E.R. and ask for advice. Explain to them what your vet said, and what your dog's symptoms are.
If you choose to go, let them know you are coming as they will need to keep your dog away from other dogs, and clean out a special room that they will sterilize later as it is infections from dog to dog.
They'll tell you what to do from there.

There are no kennel cough related deaths, especially if they are treated. Those who have died, usually die from a pre-existing condition aggrivated by kennel cough.
Kennel cough symptoms does NOT include vomiting. Only Coughing and dry heaves. Rarely if ever does it produce anything.

I paid $80 when my dog got kennel cough. That was the emergency vet fee, exam and the medications.

Aspirin can be toxic to dogs. Even children's aspirin needs to be regulated by a vet before giving them a dose.

Q. Having financial problems right now and cannot afford a vet. I love my two 'babies' and don't want to give them up, they have been with me a long time. Q. Hi, I'm looking forward to attending a veterinary college online courses very soon and I wil be the only one out of my family to attend college, I love animals very much so I thought about making a career on this would be great, can someone expirienced give me some great advice on a couple of great top online colleges that people are most likely to hire, for an example, wow that person attended this college, because the person who hires sometimes looks for that certain college or they will pick the person over another because she or he has graduated form this college and can anyone give me an idea, or a website on some great majors that I can look into, I was thinking vet assistant or vet technition, but then I realized that there are more than I thought there are I will highly appreciate it, thank you for your time.
A. I think that there are money programs that are online that employer look upon as NOT good. I would say that your best bet is to go with a University that has some of their courses online and some that you can attend in person. A mix of this type of coursework does not have to be distinguished on a resume. However, if you go somewhere like University of Phoenix, I personally do not think it carries nearly the same weight.
