A. 1 - Labrador Retriever

3 - German Shepherd
4 - Golden Retriever
5 - Beagle

9 - Poodle
10 - Shih Tzu

What are the top 5 sims 2 expansion packs?
Q. I have Sims 2,Open for Business and Happy Holiday Stuff and im getting bored with them. What are the top 5 expansion packs that are worth buying because i would like to get some new ones!
P.S Tell me some cool features on the games

A. Welp. I have almost every expansion. They are as follows with my opinion:
1. Nightlife - includes turning sims into vampires as well as driving vehicles, many new businesses & restaurants, spiffy new clothing, and new dating experiences *my absolute favorite expansion*
2. Celebration Stuff - lots of stuff for weddings. new furniture, lots of clothing, decorations etc. *alright for the price you pay but not the most fun*
3. Pets - having pets (obviously) you can have dogs, cats, hamsters, and birds. also a possibility of your sims turning into werewolves. *only fun if you like pets. not alot of great clothing or furniture*
4. Glamour Life - Lots of 'expensive' looking furniture and high class clothing *great for the price. helps brighten up any house lots of cool stuff*
5. Seasons - sims can be too cold or too warm when outside. new outdoor wear. gardening stuff. sims can turn into plant people if they garden enough. 4 seasons for the entire community *a great expansion. lots of fun to play in the snow :P*
6. Family Fun - lots of family clothing that matches, childrens toys, etc. *not as great as i would have expected. Maxis could have done a lot more with this ep but didnt. kind of a let down*
7. Bon Voyage - sims can go on vacations to different places. lots of new clothing. can make your own vacation spots as well *a rather time consuming expansion because it takes a bit to get from one place to another on vacation. not the best, i wouldnt recommend*
8. Teen Style Stuff - great if you make teenagers a lot. surfer furniture and clothing as well as gothic furniture and clothing. techie stuff, lots of new clothing *one of my favorite stuff packs definately recommend*
9. Freetime - sports (finally) such as basketball, soccer, plus lots of hobbies, cooking contests, violin playing, artsy stuff. great addition, can also get 2 aspirations *havent played as much as i'd like but from what i've seen i'm thouroughly impressed. great ep*
10. University - send teenage sims to college. new age group 'young adult'. lots of new items and clothing. *very time consuming ep. takes forever to get through college but a lot of fun if you have party sims*

I dont own the Ikea stuff pack, H&M stuff pack, or kitchen and bath stuff pack. Ikea is furniture, H&M is clothing, and kitchen and bath are ... well kitchen and bath.

There is a new expansion pack coming out soon called Apartment Life. Wikipedia says that Maxis is bringing back magic and witches. You can also have apartment buildings with multiple families living there. This Ep comes out August 26

I would say the top 5 best are:
1. Nightlife
2. Teen Style
3. Seasons
4. Freetime
5. Glamour Life

and apartment life will prolly be AMAZing

How do u find vet recommendations online?

Q. I'm taking my dog to be spayed on Friday to my neighborhood vet, whcih I have never visited. I am so nervous being that this is a surgery and I have a small maltese. Does anyone know where I can check vet reference online to know that other people like them, etc?

A. Ask your vet to supply references. They are usually more than happy to. Call the folks he lists and don't be shy about asking questions.
Good luck.

Where can I ask a vet online?
Q. I need to ask some questions to a vet online, but I can't find a site that allows me to do so.

Where can I ask a horse question to a horse vet online FOR FREE!

A. http://pet.justanswer.com/Vet/?r=ovpet&JCRN=Vets%20and%20Pet%20Experts&OVRAW=ask%20the%20vet&OVKEY=ask%20the%20vet&OVMTC=standard&OVADID=35826854511&OVKWID=39901163511

Your best bet is to call you own vet though. I'm not sure how well an online vet can diagnose a problem, and your vet knows your horse. Most vets will talk to you on the phone for a few minutes free of charge.

How many fake vets are on here?
Q. Why do people claim to be vets online? They may as well claim to be millonaires. Neither can be proved or disproved.

A. i was with Teddy Roosevelt at the Battle of Las Guasimas. that day Teddy killed 5 mexicans with his bare hands.those Mexicans gave us hell though. damn those smokeless propellants! i don't have to prove anything to you...

Is there a website where I can chat with a veterinarian live for free?
Q. For an english project, I have to research a career and interview a person who does that career. I have always wanted to be a veterinarian, so I thought it would be easy for me to do that career. I was just wondering if I could interview a vet online for free, since I am too busy to go to the vet in person.

A. If you contacted one personally they would probably agree to respond to your questions through e-mail.

What does a veterinarian do for a daily day and well is it challenging to get in the field?

Q. Also how many years to be a veterinarian and what do you learn what do you reccomend for a college student interested in the field what should i do? Also what do you reccomend me to do like to see magazines or vetenarian books? Is this a stressful job and well are the studies in a vet school hard or heavy to understand? Would you recoomend me study this if i have a bad household and parents fighting alot???

A. First of all, your household has no bearing on your education. If your parents fight a lot, just stay out of it. Go to your room or go outside and hang out with friends.

A veterinarian must finish high school and go to the university. In America, the study is 8 years (4 years at the regular university and 4 years afterwards in veterinary school). In Europe, the study is usually 6 years.

After you finish school, you must pass a board examination in order to get your license to practice veterinary medicine. Usually, you begin by joining a clinic with other veterinarians who will help you if you have any questions. After a few years, you will have a lot of experience and you can start your own clinic.

There are two types of veterinarians - small animal and large animal. Small animals are housepets, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, rabbits, ferrets, etc. Large animals are farm animals, such as sheep, goats, cows, pigs, and horses.

Some veterinarians specialize. For example, a large animal veterinarian might specialize in horses while a small animal veterinarian might decide to specialize in exotic birds.

Is it stressful? Like any profession, there are good days and bad days. Most veterinarians schedule surgery in the morning and then see patients in the afternoon. Small animal veterinarians usually have clinics and pet owners brings their animals to the clinic, so the veterinarian usually doesn't make house calls. But large animal veterinarians are always on the move from one farm to another. Horse veterinarians usually have a clinic where sick horses can get surgery or other care.

If you want t be a veterinarian, then you should pay special attention to science and math.

Another career working with animals is a veterinary assistant. After graduating high school, you apply at a college (university) and you study for 2 or 3 years. A veterinary assistant is a good choice for people who don't want to be at the university for many years. But keep in mind, a veterinarian makes more money. However, a veterinary assistant is still a good job and similar to a veterinarian. You can think of a veterinary assitant like being a nurse. You assist with surgery, take care of the patients, administer medication, and help the doctor.

If you are in America, then as a college student, you should major in biology, animal science, or biochemisty your first four years at the university and then apply to veterinary school (graduate school). If you are in Europe, then you should learn as much biology and chemistry as you can before you apply to the university.

There's lots of interesting books about veterinarians. You can surf the web or visit a university nearby. Go to the academic bookstore and ask the salesperson to give you list of textbooks used in veterinary school. Right now, you might find them difficult to read, but just browse through them at the bookstore to get an idea.

A book you might want to buy is a basic book on animal science. There are books about animal science for high school students and university students. Get a basic book. One that says something like this: INTRODUCTION TO ANIMAL SCIENCE.

Good luck!

Are there any websites where you can post questions to a veterinarian or expert about cat issues?
Q. I keep running into these websites that seem like they can be very helpful as to my question about my cat, but every oneof them say how much will you pay or make you pay before you even know if they can help you. Does anyone know of a FREE site where you can ask the experts on cats??

What is the healthy weight range for cats?
Q. I weighed my cat today, and she came in at 7.8 lbs. She is a Birman breed, quite a dainty little thing. Is 7.8lbs a healthy weight for my pet?

What weight ranges are healthy for different sized cats, or different breeds of cat?

A. "Healthy weight" actually has little to do with the cat's weight in pounds, and more to do with the body condition. Having never seen your individual cat, nobody can really tell you if 7.8 lbs is appropriate or not.

Body condition is measured on a scale of either 1 to 5 or 1 to 9. Most veterinarians will assess your pet's body condition at every visit, and use that scale to decide how much in pounds the cat should weigh.

Here's a nice little chart I found online explaining the body condition scale in more detail. This particular chart uses the 1 to 5 scale.

http://www.cathelp-online.com/health/bscore.php

As always, if you have further questions, you can come back here, or visit your veterinarian for a check-up and a diet consult.

I will be traveling with a cat on a long flight soon and was wondering if anyone has ever used cat sedatives?
Q. What kind of sedatives are out there for cats? Are there any harmful side effects? Does anyone know any good vets in the San Diego area?

A. Hi there...please check with the airline you will be flying as most will not transport sedated animals. This is something we encountered with nearly every airline domestic and international.

Here's an article written by the American Veterinary Medical Assoc about this:

Don't Sedate or Tranquilize Pets Traveling By Air

American Humane Association Cautions Veterinarians and Pet Owners

Many pet owners may decide to take the family pet along on their trips. A well-planned trip with the family pet can be fun; however, if air travel is involved, leaving pets at home with a good pet sitter may be a much better option.

Pets are just like people who sometimes become anxious when they don't travel frequently. This leads some owners and veterinarians to question whether administering sedatives or tranquilizers to dogs or cats prior to flight is a good idea. According to national and international air transport organizations, as well as the American Humane Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, in most cases the answer is "no"!

"An animal's natural ability to balance and maintain equilibrium is altered under sedation," noted Dr. Patricia Olson, DVM, Ph.D., director of veterinary affairs and studies for the American Humane Association. "When the kennel is moved, a sedated animal may not be able to brace and prevent injury."

Whether flying in the cabin or with cargo, animals are exposed to increased altitude pressures of approximately 8,000 feet. Increased altitude, according to Olson, can create respiratory and cardiovascular problems for dogs and cats who are sedated or tranquilized.

"Brachycephalic (short-faced) dogs and cats are especially affected," noted Olson. "Although thousands of pets are transported uneventfully by air, airline officials believe that when deaths do occur they often result from the use of sedation."

The American Humane Association cautions veterinarians to carefully consider the use of tranquilizers or sedatives for their clients who are considering air transportation for their family pet.

We have found that most cats will naturally feel somewhat stressed for approximately 30-40 minutes and then sleep the remainder of their travels so sedating isn't actually necessary.

How do you get a quaker to let you pet him?

Q. We got a quaker from my husbands brother and its bonded with him real well, but not so good for my daughter and I. Well, now at least he will come and sit on me but none of us can pet his head. I'm getting tired of getting bitten, and he bites hard! Hes about 4 or 5 years old and don't seem to have been handeled much.

Is there any way we can get him to let us pet him?

A. You didn't say how long you have had the bird. They have to get to know you. But sometimes they do bond with just one person. Seeing that you got the bird from your husbands brother , your husband probably reminds the bird of his old owner, so that is why he bonded with him first. Try giving the bird treats, such as sunflower seeds, if you do this every day, maybe he'll get more friendly towards you.

How to tame chickens enough so you can pick them up and/or pet them?
Q. We have a few chickens who are smart enough to eat out of our hands and go back to their pen a few hours after we let them out.

How can we have them let us pet them or pick them up?

Because sometimes we want them to get off something (like our crops) without having to scare them, and I kinda wanna pet 'em when they're good or something, instead of just giving them bread and veggies for treats. :)

Possible or no? If it is, then how do we do it?

A. Yes you can, but yes it may take a little while.
Food is always good to assist you.
They do like a pat! :D I used to pick them up and pat them for an hour sometimes (after that they'd probably have pooped on me! so i'd have to let go! :S ewwwy)
But yes, gradually try and get closer to them while your feeding them.
Get something like bread/veggies scraps, and sit down nearby and have a coffee(?), gradually move the scraps or whatever you feed them closer to you each time.

Why does my cat seem to have a foot fetish?
Q. If given the choice, my cat, TC, would rather rub up against either my feet or my fiance's, rather than let us pet him with our hands. This is the first cat I've ever had that is like this, so I have to ask, is this normal? Why does he do this?

A. he is marking your feet as "his" territory...when he rubs his face against you, he is leaving his scent....your cat loves you and your fiance...he is telling you so...

Will this new Bearded Dragon get used to us?
Q. I just got an adult female Bearded Dragon whose previous owners had to go overseas. I already have one and they are both getting along fine.
It is very tame, let's us pet it but does not let us hold it very long, and is extremely squirmy.
My first BD I have had for a year and acts the same way when anyone other than myself or my daughter holds her.
I'm assuming the new one acts so crazy because it doesn't know us. Do you think it will eventually bond with us and be calmer someday?

A. She sure will eventually get used to you and calm down.

I got an adult male who would freak out anytime I picked him up. But it took about a month or so an now he is the one that climbs the tank when I come into the room and loves to ride around on my shoulder or sit in my lap while I am on the computer

Is 160 bucks for having my dog taken care of by a dog sitter during the day too much?

Q. I'm going away for Christmas and she said that it would take 160 bucks to take care of my puppy.

Is that too much? Or reasonable?

A. i think that if it just for during the day, that is an extremly high price. i babysit dogs in my neighbor hood all the time and i chagre $5 per day per dog. and although i know that is hella cheaper than any kennel, its also not extremly outragious as $160!

I need someone to take care of my puppy while im gone?
Q. I'm going to be going out of town and i need someone to take care of my puppy while Im gone. Where can i find somebody to do the job in Manhattan kansas?

A. Check the yellow pages for the boarding kennels in your area, and check the BBB for their reliability. You can go inspect the premises in person before you board them. This is the only reliable way to do it unless you can leave them with a reliable relative or friend. Either way it will cost you something, but the dog is worth it, isn't it?

Does anyone know the initial steps in taking care of a puppy?
Q. I just got a puppy two days ago. He is a Husky/Collie, and LOOKED very healthy. But I have noticed that his stomach is bloated and he is full of tapeworms. He looks to be about 10 weeks old, and he has not received any shots or anything. I need to know how much it should cost to nurse him back to health. Does anyone know how much his puppy shots are going to be? I also need to know how much it costs to get rid of the worms. Is it a pill that I have to give him, or is he going to have to stay at the vet's office? He runs around and plays, and the worms don't seem to hurt him. But I know this is something that needs to be taken care of now, he isn't getting his nutrients. Please help. Any sites you know of with puppy care info, or anything you know would definitely help. I haven't had a puppy since I was a little kid, and I need to know what to do. Thanks!
Another thing, if Mojo, my puppy, has tapeworms, is there a chance that he has fleas on him still carrying the tapeworm eggs? And if he does still have those fleas, can my boyfriend or I get tapeworms? What about the other puppy that Mojo socializes with?

A. Take the puppy to the vet. He needs to be dewormed, which is usually a two time dose of med. I really can't estimate how much the visit will be, however, he will need a series of shots, that is not a one time deal. (the wormining medication will most likely be administered in the office the firt time and you will give them the second dose at home about 2 weeks later.) Call local vets for pricing, you can compare. But honestly having dealt with many vets, you should get recommendations from friends like you would if you were picking a doctor for yourself. Not every vet will have the same mannerisms and way with animals. If all else fails check a local animal control center, they may have programs for people who want to keep pets but have $ issues. Our local animal shelter provides food. Maybe that would subsidize cost while you pay for vet bills. good luck!

How do you take care of newborn puppies?
Q. my dog gave birth to 7 healthy puppies this morning and i wanted to know if there are any tips on taking care of them. Like,. tempurature of the room and stuff like that.

Thanks in advance =]
uhm actually its our family dog! im sure my mom knows this i was just asking..

A. Right now, the pups' mom will do just about everything the puppies will need. For your part, keep the room where the dogs are warm, dimly lit (so it looks like a "den"), and clean. Normal room temperature is fine if the pups are able to snuggle against mom for warmth when they need it.

Keep other animals and very small children away from the mom and her babies, and keep the place as quiet as possible. Try not to handle the pups too much, and don't handle them at all if their mom objects to them being touched. (Some mother dogs can viciously defend their litter if they think their pups are in danger.)

Keep an ear out for the pups. It's normal for them to make little mewling noises, but if they start screaming and whining a lot it usually means they're not getting enough nourishment from the mom and may need to be supplemented with bottled formula.

Also keep an eye out for mom "rejecting" any of the pups. Mother dogs will reject pups that they believe are unhealthy, and may push the pups away from them, not allow them to nurse, or even kill them. Check the pups each day to make sure everyone is warm and happy and fattening up nicely.

Your puppies eyes and ears have not yet finished developing so it's very important that you NOT try to force the eyes open. The eyes will open (at about week 2) as soon as they're finished developing.

Good luck with your new brood!

Is it fair for apartments to charge a fee for pets when they charge none for children?

Q. From what I've seen, small children tear up a lot more than pets. Pets don't have crayons, paints, markers, or hands with which to throw their food. They also seem to be easier to potty train than children.
Oh, and before you mention fleas, let me remind you that children bring home LICE, which are not only harder to get rid of than fleas, but will also take up residence in human hair.
Lol, great point, vegansforever! Maybe children should be limited to children's stores since pets are limited to pet supply stores?

A. I have long said I would prefer places that allow pets but ban children rather than places that allow children but ban pets. Pets are not nearly as annoying. Of course, children are that way because bad parents let them get away with it. I strongly agree that it makes more sense to have a fee for children than for pets in rentals, and it also makes more sense to have rentals that ban children rather than pets. As for the licensing issue...it's very sad that so many places require you to get a license to own a pet, but anyone is allowed to reproduce whether they take care of their offspring or not.

How many types of pets can you handle?
Q. What kinds of pets? How do you take care? What do you do? Can you handle them all at the same time?

A. I currently have living in my house w/me: 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 green iguanas, 1 box turtle, 6 parakeets, & 2 cockatiels. I have had 3 cats +/or 3 dogs at one time before, but that seems to upset the balance. It takes a certain amount of organization, and getting everyone/everything (including yourself) on some type of schedule: feed/watering, letting dogs outside to relieve themselves, pooper-scooping, changing bird cages, cleaning iguana/turtle cages, etc. Kind of challenging at first whenever another addition is made to the "family", but in time, everything fits in and works out, just takes patience and determination. Also - I don't see how anyone who owns a variety of (indoor) pets can be a "clean freak". Vacuum, dust, mop, all you want, but by the time you work your way from one end of a room to the other, where you started at is already getting furred and feathered! Diligence is the name of the game, but you can make yourself crazy trying to live in a sterile environment!

Why is it hard to find apartments that allows pets and is close to college campus?
Q. Is it because people don't want pets by busy streets? I swear, its impossible to find one.

A. The reason is that many landlords are wary of the potential damage those pets could do. Some pet owners are not remotely responsible for their pets and let them destroy places. I've known landlords who have been left with apartments with urine and sh*t stains and smells, scratches on the walls and wooden doors and also chewed up corners on the walls or on other stuff around the house. Unfortunately some very irresponsible pet owners have ruined it for future tenants who are responsible pet owners.

Even with a pet damage/security deposit, some landlords still don't feel comfortable renting to people who have pets because the damages might exceed the deposit and some tenants who bail end up disappearing.

What is the difference between sims 3 pets and sims 3 pets plus?
Q. I want to buy sims 3 pets, but I don't know which one would be better. Pets plus is $50 and regular pets is 40. I want to know what is a better deal. Thanks(:

A. The difference is that the Sims 3 Pets plus has the original Sims 3 in it AND the Sims 3 Pets. If you don't already have the Sims 3 and want Sims 3 Pets, this is what you would get. Just get the regular $40 one. Hope this helps!!

When will my puppy start acting like a puppy?

Q. My three month old puppy's leg was in a splint for two weeks. My puppy has been walking without the splint, and using his leg for two weeks, but he doesn't play like a puppy should. He dosen't run, jump, or do anything but lie around. I walk him every day, and he doesn't show any signs of pain. When will my puppy start acting like a puppy?

A. When he is taught to be a puppy. I'm guessing he didn't get much playing or "puppiness" when he was in the splint. So he hasn't learned. Play with him and teach him that it's OK to run and jump.

If a puppy is exposed to parvo and catches it how Long after will the puppies gums start turning pale?
Q. How long Aftwr a puppy catches parvo will the gums start to change to pale? Also, how fast does a puppy breath and heart rate? Fast or slow? Faster than a human?

A. a puppys gums will turn pale/white when a puppy is anemic not when it has parvo although in rare cases this does happen a it is NOT a sign of parvo..but if your puppy has pale/white gums TAKE IT TO THE VET anemia is very serious in dogs and can lead to death if not treated...dogs heart rate are always higher than a humans the breathing rate is affected by many factors although you do not want a pup to be breathing really fast if it looks like hyper ventilation try to calm her/him down and TAKE IT TO THE VET

all to often people assume that a animal has a simple problem that can be delt with at home this is mostly never the case and you need regualr vistits to your vet

How to train my puppy pee and defecate at the right place?
Q. My puppy is 2 month old now. Is it possible to train him at this age?

A. To properly train a dog to go to the bathroom at the same time and t do #1 & #2 you need to pu the puppy in a crate while in the house, then take puppy outside to use the bathroom in the same place each time & reward puppy (very important) If puppy doesn't go take back in and put back in the crate and try again in a half hour or so

How soon can my puppy go out after her 3rd vaccinations?
Q. My puppy is 14 weeks old and just had her 3rd round of shots. How soon is it safe for her to go outside?

A. The correct rule is after all the puppy vacines have been completed. Especially the shots for Parvo than you should wait at least 10 days after the date of the shots.
