Can a house dog survive when it is 18 degrees outside?

Q. My dog ran away. He is a 75lb pure bread Chocolate lab. Its 18 degrees outside and 7 degrees with the wind chill. My dog ran away and it is too dark to go out and look for him. I want an honest no bs assessment. A simple no bs yes or no and please be honest, I don't want a heart filled sorrow response. I just want to know if a dog used to a 70 degree house can survive overnight outside.

A. Yes. He will find a warm place. Go look in the dawn hours.

A. If he finds shelter yes he can. If not then he could freeze to death. I hope someone finds him for you.

How do I stop a bleeding head wound on a dog?
Q. I'm watching a big black lab with a walnut-sized bleeding cyst in her ear. The owner warned me about the wound and said that it would dribble, he also said that it was about to be removed. But I had to wrap a bandage around her head because its really starting to bleed. Is there any way to get the wound to scar over? Is there anything I can put on it to make it dry out and stop bleeding, at least until the owner takes her back?

A. That dog REALLY needs to see a vet. Like now. I suggest you phone the owner.
Until then, apply pressure with a clean towel to stop the bleeding.

Can any one recommend a good dog trainer in the Newcastle area?
Q. My Shar-pei is coming up to 2 years old and getting a bit rowdy and needs some more training around other dogs. She has had training in the past but now she seems to think now she can nip and wind up bigger dogs than her and also needs training on her lead. Thanks
Sorry Newcastle Upon Tyne! :)

A. on-Tyne or under-Lyme??
