What foods can i give my dog everyday instead of dog food?

Q. I've started to make homemade food for my new dog because she refuses to eat any kind of dog food. My dog loves to eat carrots, apples, cabbage and rice. Are these foods ok to give my dog? And are there anymore vegetables that most dogs like? Thank you xx

A. Dogs tend to like snaps, spinach, kale, collards, etc & you can buy them chopped but frozen & simply microwave them warm, in order to feed them to the dog or you can puree fresh stuff. Adding a bit of Old Bay Seasoning to the veggies can also make them tastier for the dog. Dogs also like plain cooked sweet potatoes (a flavorful, low glycemic carbohydrate) & squash. You DO need to add a meat protein (not mentioned) and a source of adequate calcium.

You can add a few blueberries but keep in mind that feral dogs & wolves don't tend to eat fruit other than what is found in the stomachs of their prey. You don't want to tax their pancreas with too much sugar, since the normal carnivore diet of meat & bone requires very little insulin for digestion. Brown or wild rice is much better for the dog, than white rice (more fiber, more nutrition, less sugar).

Does anyone know what kind of dog is in a certain dog food commercial?
Q. I don't know what kind of dog food it is, but the dog is white and he pops out from behind the food at the very end. There is a pink background. The dog is very small and white. He has short curly hair and he is sooo adorable!

A. its a westie=west highland terrier

What kind of dogs make good family dogs?
Q. I love german shepherds and that's the kind of dog I want. My boyfriend on the other hand wants a husky? Which would you chose and why?

A. German Shepherds and Huskies aren't such great beginning dogs. They both have dominant tendencies and were bred for many, many years as working dogs, meaning they have tons of drive. They need a lot of maintenance to be kept happy and healthy.

My personal pick for best family dog is the Pit Bull terrier. :) They're affectionate, intelligent, energetic, highly-trainable, and they're incredibly easy to find because there are just so many in desperate need of homes. They come in all different colors and usually weigh 40-60lbs.

I think your very best bet would be to go to your local animal shelter and sit down with the staff. Tell them exactly what you're looking for in a dog, and what characteristics you don't like- they likely have something in the shelter that you'll fall in love with. :)

Best of luck adding a new dog to your family.

Does anyone hear about a kind of dog named Taiwan dog?
Q. I heard of the Taiwan Dog is going to be listed as a kind of dog breed. I think they're lovely. And I want to know what makes the Taiwan Dog to be an individual dog breed.

A. The Formosan Mountain Dog, commonly referred to as simply Formosan, and also known as Taiwan Dog or Taiwan Native Dog is a breed of dog indigenous to Taiwan. Formosans are further classified into Taiya, Bunon, and Plain based on various physical characteristics Originally kept by aboriginal Taiwanese as hunting dogs, purebred Formosans are extremely rare, so much so that one dog breeder in Taiwan named Chen Ming-nan spent 10 years to find four dogs suitable for breeding.
