Q. i love all animals but i have noticed that most dog people hate cats.
these are some of the things ive heard dog people say about cats.
"cats smell"
"cats are dirty"
"cats are evil"
"cats give you diseases"
this is all untrue cats are actually very clean animals, they are not evil people who sa that are living in the middle ages. Also you are much more likely to catch a disease or sickness from dogs than cats.

A. Ive always liked both, and most of my life Ive had both (I dont have cats now, because it is too dangerous for them with all the coyotes around my house).
People tend to stereotype cats. I dont know how many times I have heard that cats dont care about you, theyre aloof, and only come when they want...etc.
Sure not true with the cats Ive had - most of them had personalities like dogs - very affectionate, and would even go for walks with me.

Remedies for morning sickness?
Q. Hey everyone,
Does anyone have any *natural* remedies that will help with morning sickness in dogs?
Would love to hear what other people have used and how it works. Natural remedies are definitely preferred, but any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks everyone. I will definitely try the frequently small meals. She never had any morning sickness during her other pregnancy. Luckily she has not thrown up in my lap!
Just to be clear, I do not necessarily mean that it's in the morning. It actually usually is later in the day.

A. Small frequent meals. I think it keeps the stomach from filling up with stomach acid.
Every blasted pregnant b*tch I've ever had has walked up to me after drinking water with the "I don't feel good" look on their face... and then puked in my lap or on my shoes. Frequent small meals helps.. even if it's just a few kibbles of dog food.

How much should a dog sleep in a 24 hour period?
Q. My dog is now 1 year and 9 months old. He seems to be sleeping a lot more than he used to. Is this normal because he isn't a puppy anymore? Is he bored? Should I be worried?
A. Good question.
I think a lot of people have some good responses, but let me consolidate them and add to it, maybe this will help you.
1 - Weather.
Seasons : This will come into play more during the winter. Im assuming you live in an area entering Spring / Summer? If so, then your dog should be pepping up.
Daily Weather : I have two terriers and they go crazy when it rains. Mainly because they don't like to go outside, so they stay in, and make my house a racetrack wrestling ring. Also, check for HEAT. If your dog gets too tired, then he might be just too exhausted to do much, so you see him sleep more. Make sure he has a comfortable inside place to rest and play if / when you are not home.
Environment : I'm assuming your dog is an inside dog? It breaks my heart to see dogs tied to a tree and stuff like that. So if he's indoor, make sure he gets outside to play for at least 30 minutes a day. Go for walks, meet other dogs. Stuff like that.
2 - Fun time
Toys : One of my terries has a mental problem. When she see's a kite (those things people fly on strings :), she looses her mind and starts chasing it. Like she can catch it. There is NO stopping her. I've never seen a dog go this mental before, but it tires her out so she can be normal later at night. Have plenty of toys and things for your dog to do, but not too many. Dogs can only remember about 10 objects that are "theirs". If you have too many different objects (3 similar tennis balls would count as one), they get confused. But less than 5 toys is not good either, because, like a prior poster said, he may be bored.
3 - Health
Sickness : Dogs, like people can catch a cold. My (kite mental) terrier got a cold the other day. Sneezing, runny nose, sleeping, going outside to potty (every 30 freaking minutes), was all she did for two days. Yeah, I was worried. Took her to the vet, got some anti-biotics, special food, etc. She's a puppy (15 weeks) so keeping her healthy is key now. Your dog might just have a cold.
4 - Growing Pains
Age : Your dog is 1 year 9 months. Basically a teenager. Teenagers go through that "specail" phase in thier life we like to call "puberty". Teenagers need more sleep. Thier body is going through changes, and these DNA changes require extra rest.
Hope this helps and good luck!!!!
Keep us posted how he does!
