What is the best brand of dog sheers?

Q. The pet stores around me only carry one brand and I do not particularly care for it. (Osterman). I am looking for the best deal. Not outrageously expensive, but also very good at getting the job done. Are there any dog groomers, breeders or caring pet owners out there who favor a certain brand? Please let me know.

A. I personally like double duck, fromm, and millers forge. However before you buy, try them out. A pair of shears that hurts your hands isn't going to get much use. If you have dog shows in your area, you can try shears out at some of the vendors and then buy them elsewhere unless they are a good price.

What training do you need to open a pet store?
Q. To open a pet store you clearly need to know how to take care of pets.Obviously experience as a pet owner and the Internet would be a person's best friend but can you actually go to college for this? Maybe taking courses like biology, veterinary training, maybe a business course? Small pet store owners and other people Answer meeeeee!

A. First thing to know about would be how to run a business, next it depends on what kind of animals you would have. Nothing beats personal experience when it comes to things like fish and birds. I would consider a course in something like animal science, amd biology. Reproduction but i dont think thats a course about animals and of course read every book you can get your hands on about animals and fish.

What child friendly pets could I keep in my (medium sized) backyard?
Q. I am looking for a reasonably easy to care for pet that i could keep in my backyard. Any ideas?
Are chickens or goats a good idea?

A. I definitely wouldn't suggest a rabbit for someone looking for a reasonably easy to care for pet that can live outdoors. they're delicate, require lots of attention, have a very specific diet, need to be groomed 1-2x daily during heavy molts (every 3 months, they shed a lot... every other one is light; the heavy ones put them at high risk for hairballs if not groomed constantly and unlike cats, they can't barf up the hairballs which can cause serious medical problems), etc. they also can't be loose in the yard unsupervised since they could escape or a predator could get to them so they'd need a large hutch with a roof on it. bunnies also don't regulate body temperature well and do best at 61-72F/become susceptible to heat stroke around 80F - there are very few parts of the world where a bunny could safely be kept outdoors year round.

one option would be an outdoor dog as long as it was played with for at least a couple hours a day.

I've never had chickens or goats as a pet, so I can't offer any pointers on those ><

We are thinking about moving to Vancouver, WA. How is it to raise a family?
Q. We would like to get out of CA and move to Vancouver, WA. Just wondering how is the area? Is it family friendly, public transportation, Medical Care, pet friendly city. Does it get all four seasons?
What are should we look at in Vancouver? What schools are the best in Vancouver?

A. I like to say this: Washington is full of hillbillies.
If you want your kids to know how to chew tobacco and skin squirrels for dinner, then by all means, move to Vancouver. Just don't come running to Oregon when you want to buy a lamp without a sales tax!!
