Q. One of our cats has ingested 'Verbena' and has been taken to the Veterinary to be treated for it, but we would liek to know what available Antidotes that there are. Any advice is appreciated.
A. Your vet could tell you alot faster than I can look it up. the choices are symptomatic support, let it pass, do nothing or make cat vomit. try online Merck Veterinary Manual or call poison center -1 800
222 1222. There is a animal poison center, but they charge you for advice.

My kitten has an eye infection and we're inbetween paychecks. What can I do until I can get her to the vet?
Q. I've read Vaseline is BAD and only makes it worse. I've read a warm washcloth is helpful. What else? I can't take her until next Friday (almost a week!) Any helpful advice would be great.
A. You could use a warm cloth to clean her eye. The only other thing safe that I would recommend is a saline solution eye wash like you could use in your eyes.
Eye infections are usually an indicator of an upper respiratory infection. Is she sneezing, too? Is she still eating and drinking okay? She will need antibiotics either way, and the sooner the better.
I understand fully about between paychecks, I work for the county and only get paid once a month and hubby gets paid 1st/16th. So we've learn how to stretch!
My kitties routine expenses are in the budget, but I use my Care Credit for the surprises or emergencies like this. Care Credit is a credit card just for medical expenses including veterinary. You can see what veterinary offices accept it in your area and apply online. The link is below.
Purrs to you and kitten.

How long is the gestation period for cats after they mate?
Q. I saw my cat outside getting her some from another cat last night. Does that mean she is now preggers? How long does it usually take a cat to have kittens?
I do not want anyone hounding me about spaying demands and harassing me about my decisions. I just want to know how long I should expect her to be pregnant. So please preach to someone else and leave the question simple with a simple answer.

Does anyone have any recipes for vegetable based dental bones for dogs?
Q. I recently purchased Zuke's Clean Carrot Crunch Z-bones from my local pet store and my dog loves them! I have found a few recipes for dental bones online but really wanted something with a vegetable base (preferably carrot). Does anyone have any recipes similar to zukes or advice on how to mimic Zuke's z-bones. Thanks!
A. I am glad that you are caring for your dog's teeth because by age three, 75% of dogs develop periodontal disease. Many veterinary denists believe that good oral health increases a pet's lifespan. I give my dogs Greenies Dental Chews, and they love em. They are the #1 Vet recommended dental chew. They come in different sizes, so you can find the right size for your dog. I just give them one a day as a treat. Check out Greenies.com for more information, or you can send me an email.
