Why is my dog protective of a room she had puppies in?

Q. My dog had puppies before we could get her fixed, now she is fixed but she's acting odd. She takes balls into the room she had puppies in and sat them next to her. She now is growling whenever we try to pet her in that room. I took away the balls using a broom and she didn't act aggressive. She growls now at us when we try to get her out of the room using bread and dog biscuits. It would be a big help on how we get her out of there without getting hurt.

A. The obvious answer is to get a slip lead on her (so you don't get close enough to be bitten) and get her out of there. Once she's out, shut the door so she can't get in there. I don't know what's going on with her to be honest as none of my mums has ever done anything like this. All I can suggest is you get her out for some good long runs - it may be as simple as she's bored stiff, which is leading to mental problems. Provided she checks out as healthy, there's not much else to be done really.

what kind of dog was that big brown dog on this dog show one animal planet?
Q. there was a black guy and he had this new bread of dog it was really big and brown it kinda looked like a bull dog but less ugly ( I like bull dogs but they are ugly cute have a frenchie ). I really liked the way that dog looked he had a really pretty coat too. I wish I wrote the name down.

A. Dogue de Bordeaux, Korean Dosa, Cane Corso (all rare-ish mastiffs that could be a brownish color but they are NOT "new breeds") could also be a shar-pei??

What is the average price of a pure bread dog?
Q. I want to buy a new dog to enter in dog shows.

A. A buck a loaf.

How many beagles are expected?
Q. I have not yet breaded dogs yet, but I am wondering what the average litter is expected to be delivered. How many?

A. Breaded dogs? Like breaded chicken? I prefer mine grilled.

Answer? Don't breed your dog, then you won't have to worry about it.

Also, to one of the responders, please tell me you did not pay anything but an adoption fee for that black golden retriever mix.

How about a law that states everyone has to take an IQ test when they become pregnant, and if below 100 must?

Q. ABORT???--Did you know that Royalty and extremely wealthy families had an extremely long history of imbreeding??? Kind of like pure bread dogs you know, that's how they used to do it in the old days to make sure the money did not leave the family!!! Do you think that, that is why so many of the people who come from well to do families have such LOW IQ's today?

A. In Buck v. Bell, the Supreme Court held that compulsory sterilization of the mentally retarded is allowable. But it partially overturned this in Skinner v. Oklahoma, noting that sterilization cannot be used as a criminal punishment. Today, most laws like this have been repealed (thank goodness). Such a law is eugenics, plain and simple.

How do I go about getting a breeders license in the state of Ny?
Q. ...and I mean a license to breed pur bread dogs.

A. not to be mean or anything, but do you know what happens sometimes when you bred dogs??? well it has happened that my family has went to the dog pound and we have seen some of our puppies that we have bred. so from then on we stopped and tried to help dogs and puppies off the street.

why isn't bread supposed to be put in a mulch pile?
Q. I am not suppose to put these items in a compost / mulch pile :
Meat,bones & fish ,
Dairy products ,
Grains , beans & bread ,
dog/cat poop ,
sawdust

Why aren't these things allowed in a mulch pile?

A. I think you mean compost and not mulch in any case bread just wouldn't look too pretty. dog/cat poop wouldn't smell very good nor would meat and dairy. Fish however is good for the compost as would some sawdust. The old time farmers always threw egg shells and fish scales or even the guts right on the garden.

...............Compost.....................
Composting is a cheap and hygienic way of converting waste into a clean-smelling substance that will improve the soil and make any garden flourish.

http://www.botany.uwc.ac.za/Envfacts/facts/compost.htm
Materials which you should not add to a compost heap: kikuyu grass, woody garden clippings, pine needles, rose cuttings and other cuttings with thorns, seeds, bulbs, runners, garden wastes sprayed with pesticides, toilet waste or septic tank sludge, diseased animal carcasses and diseased plants, anything that does not decompose, e.g. metals, glass, plastics.

..........................Mulch....................
http://www.seattletilth.org/resources/articles/mulch
What is Mulch?Document ActionsEmail this page | Print this page |
Mulch is any material placed around plants usually a few inches deep to reduce weeds, increase or decrease soil temperature, retain soil moisture and reduce soil compaction. The type of mulch one uses will depend on the function and the aesthetic value of the landscape.

How old can your female dog be in order to breed her?
Q. what the appropriate age to bread a dog...

and does it depend on size?

A. This is not the place to research and I refuse to help another BYB!!!
To the person (five answers above mine) if you were an ethical breeder that cared at all about your dogs you would wait until the dog was at least mature before you bred!!!

When does the Human species get to the point of genetic mutation?
Q. What I mean here is will our DNA eventually get stretched to thin? like over bread dog breads?
Thank you. Yes that helped. I was just curious!

A. I'm not too sure what you mean by our DNA getting stretched too thin. But regarding the question on genetic mutations, there are genetic mutations in human genes all the time. Most of it gets fixed right away, or when something goes wrong it could lead to cancer. But I think what you're asking about is our DNA adapting and our physical selves changing like in evolution. It takes millions and millions of years for a genetic mutation to be advantageous. Basically if a mutation is worthwhile our bodies will keep it, if not we'll probably die. It's kind of like survival of the fittest. We've only gotten here because our genes have been able to mutate and adapt. The species that are unable to adapt go extinct. Hope this helps!

How can I find out if my cats will get along with a new dog?
Q. I am in the process of getting a dog. However, we already have 2 (indoor) cats one young and one old.

I am afraid that a new dog might beat up my old cat?

How do I find out if the new dog will get along with my existing cats or not? I want them to be one big happy family. Is there a way to test this? Are certain breads of dogs more likely to get along with cats than others?

A. If the dog is a pup, I'd be more concerned with the Pup's safety than I would the cat's. TRUST ME, cats can handle themselves around ANY dog. I've had great big Huskies bow down to little ol ally cats, either because the Cat could hiss and scratch loud enough, OR because a cat can SCAT in a hurry if need be. Introduce them, see what happens. That's all you can do. If they grow up together, they'll be friends. It's obviously better if the cat is older and the dog is younger. But there's ALWAYS a chance they'll go their seperate(natural) ways in the long run. They only know what you teach them though too. Just try it....

Is it common to neuter a dog by going through his shaft, instead of at the base? He is in pain 3 days later?
Q. constantly jumping and running away from the pain. He isn't resting, and wants to be where it's cold, the basement, the dog box outside, or laying in the snow. Our house is cool, but he pants, which is unusual, so I suspect a fever. I have ensured that he eats by giving him warm broth over bread or dog food.

A. lol...I have to laugh simply because that IS the way most dogs are neutered. I've been working in a vet clinic for over 10 years and of the hundreds of neuters I've monitored anesthesia for, I've yet to see it done another way, with the exception of a dog that is cryptorchid (balls didn't drop) so the incision is made lateral to the shaft. there are rare cases of scrotal incisions.. but like I said, very rare.

He should have been sent home with pain medication.. if not call the vet tomorrow and ask for some. Until then keep him crated, because running around jumping can cause him to bust his stitches open, which isn't fun for anyone.

waning to learn how to bread?
Q. I am 12 years old and i want to bread dogs when i get older. Like i loving dealing with puppies. I love to learn about animals. I love playing with animals. I would only want to bread chihuahuas and minni Daschunds. So i wanted to know some tips for breading small dogs like there cycle and the serious stuff.

A. First of all... it's breed not, bread. Bread is a food that most people make sandwiches with. You should at least know how to spell.

Second, WHY ON EARTH do you think you have what it takes to be a breeder. You are a KID. Do you have time to miss school when your b*tch goes into labor? Can you take off at least a couple of days when the newborn pups arrive?

Why are you breeding? From your previous questions, it looks like you are just breeding your 2 dogs together just for fun. A BYB in the making (backyard breeder).

Do you even have a mentor? Why do you think that your dogs have what it takes to be bred? There are WAAAAYYY too many unwanted puppies in the world for you to go out and produce more carelessly.. You need to at LEAST exhibit your dog in Conformation or performance events to prove that your dog has what it takes to be bred. Do your dogs have health clearances???

I would seriously seriously rethink what you are doing. Ummm there is a lot more to breeding than cute puppies, heat cycles, etc. Breeding is NOT for the faint of heart nor is it something to be taken lightly.

Please, for your dogs' sakes, SPAY and NEUTER! Sounds like two pet quality dogs that would NEVER be considered for breeding by real reputable breeders...
