Q. My dog had only one puppy and my puppy is close to being 3 weeks old and it doesnt look like its developed to eat. At how many weeks can I introduce puppy food and water?
A. Most breeders start introducing a food MUSH at about 3 to 4 weeks but the puppy can nurse as long as the mother will let it. Usually by the 5th week, the puppy teeth hurt enough she's not very interested so you need to be working the puppy up to eating some semi-solid kibble type food, from 3 weeks on. Puppies should have a pan of water at all times - by now.
How long should you keep a puppy on puppy food?
Q. My puppies seem to be losing interest in their Eukanuba puppy food but will go crazy to try and get my grown dogs adult Eukanuba. How old should they be?
A. Puppy food is totally uneccessary, although a good marketing ploy for pet food manufacturers. It is to 'hot' for many puppies and can lead to structural problems. I have used it for the first month or so after weaning, under careful watch of the puppies development. It really isn't neccessary, I just really liked that particular food.
I even had an upper level employee of a pet food manufacturer admit this to me.

Can my 6 week old puppy start using the restroom outside ?
Q. My puppy is six weeks old, he already has his first set of parvo shots. Can he start using the bathroom outside ?
A. If you have a backyard to yourself then yes but if you share it or live in an apartment no. One parvo shot does not fully protect your puppy from diseases. Don't take him outside on walks or anywhere until he has had 3 sets of shots.
What age can a Rottweiler puppy convert from puppy food to normal dog food?
Q. I have a rottweiler puppy who is now 6 months old. She is on Bakers puppy food (which states its up to 24 months old (2yrs)). I am wondering at what age can she go onto regular dog food, is it at 2yrs old or can it be sooner?
A. larger breed dogs develope more slowly than small or medium sized dogs and can take up to 2 years to fully develope, so they need to stay on puppy food longer. larger dogs, such as your rotty, should stay on puppy food (assuming your feeding her large breed puppy food) for 1 1/2 to 2 years, rather than 1 year like smaller dogs. i switched mine over when he was 1 1/2, but probably should haved waited until 2.
